Do computers and other electronic devices in your office suddenly stop working? Are the digital controls on your production machines becoming unreliable or burning out? Does your equipment shut down for seemingly no reason?

If so, the issue may not be faulty electrical components. Your facility could have power quality problems.

Power quality is defined various ways. But basically, when the characteristics (i.e., voltage, frequency, and waveform) of the electricity supplied to equipment closely matches the electrical needs of the equipment it serves, you have power quality. Anything less and you have a potential power quality problem—one that can damage or destroy sensitive electronic components.

The High Cost of Poor Power Quality

Worse than equipment destruction, however, is the lost production. In a 2001 article, “The Cost of Power Disturbances to Industrial & Digital Economy Companies,” the Electrical Power Research Institute (EPRI) reported that yearly U.S. losses due to power quality issues were estimated at $15 to $24 billion across all business sectors. These losses are doubtless much greater today.

D.L. Steiner’s Power Quality Services

Power Quality Analysis by D.L. Steiner is your answer. Using the most advanced power metering equipment available, we conduct in-depth monitoring of your electrical system, looking for power quality issues of all types and durations:

  • Voltage spikes, surges, sags, and flicker; under- and over-voltages; harmonics; noise; transients; grounding and bonding; and others.

  • Incidents of short, long, or continuous length.

Once we’ve identified the problems, we’ll put together a comprehensive plan of recommendations to help you mitigate and eliminate these issues.

As the digital age continues, electrical devices are only going to become smaller, faster, more densely packed, and more fragile. D.L. Steiner’s Power Quality Analysis services help you avoid the power quality problems that can destroy your equipment--and your productivity.
